Britannia Music is probably the largest mail order
music store in the UK and one of the largest in Europe. Britannia
uses a Filemaker Pro database as the very hub of their business.
Data is fed to FileMaker Pro from the company mainframe on a daily
basis. Studio staff add any number of comments such as track listings,
product description, customer feedback, etc. FileMaker Pro then
analyses the data for changes and finally creates a tab-delineated
text file that is automatically sent to the web service provider
where it is integrated into an Oracle database supplying the web
customers with data on demand, and instant web purchasing.
This project is of particular interest because of the interaction
between mainframe, FileMaker Pro, and the Oracle web data engine.
